Hello all
hope you are all well and have had a good festive time and hope you have not had to endure alot of pain.
i went to rummy nurse at hospital on friday and when she was looking at my hand joints she did not like the look of them so she went and fetched the consultain and he said they had gone mad since he saw me 3 mths ago I knew that has my pain has gone out the roof at the minute but he has put me on steriods and hydroxychloroquine and has made me a appointment for him in 12 weeks he also wants me to go to phyisio and to go on a Tai Chi for arthritis this is somthing new our rummy nurses are trying, has any one ever done this ?
so I came out with morrre tablets and still has much pain so lets see if we can get a few low pain days.
Sorry to moan but i find when you tell some people they just say arr it is a shame or you are too young for that are you sure that and not somthing else,
well thanks for letting me moan
good luck to all and please let me know if anyone has tried any of the things above.

Thanks
Audrey Confused

Hi Audrey
Sorry you're suffering so much at the moment, but it sounds as if your rhuemy team are really on the ball and hopefully the new meds will help quickly - i've found a dose of steroids during a flare really helpful.I've never tried Tai-Chi so let us know how that goes - it could catch on!Physio wil be useful so i hope you get an appointment soon. Don't worry about moaning,i do it all the time and in a funny way it does help
Hope 2012 is better for you and take care

Hi Audrey

So sorry you are in such a lot of pain at the moment but it is good that your team seem to be on the ball with trying to sort you out.

I personally have never heard of Tai Chi for RA but I am sure someone else will have.

Hope that the new tablets give you some relief.

Best Wishes

Sue

I am sorry that you are in so much pain and I hope the steroids will calm down the inflammation. I have done Tai chi but not since I got RA. It is very relaxing and would be good for keeping the range of movement in your joints. Obviously if there is a movement that is painful or difficult for you then you would need to leave out that bit. It's a nice slow moving type of exercise and very gentle so I think it would be ideal. Best wishes from Naomi.

Hi Audrey

I hope you will soon feel better on the steroids. I have been thinking of going to Tai Chi myself as I have heard that you can do as much or as little as you like and it is gentle on the joints. Let us know how you go with it.

Love Sheila x

Hi Audrey,
Know what you mean mate. When I woke up with a rash all over my body whilst staying at a friend's house over Xmas she asked if it was just down to stress? No, allergic reaction to the drugs probably, no idea, need to see a doctor! I'm sure they just say it to try to make you not worry but they don't realise that it just makes you feel like a fraud and you're making a fuss over nothing. Please, please carry on moaning here, we all understand. Also I think by supporting each other on here we also feel like we're helping out in a small way. Hope you get some relief soon.

Hi Audrey,

So sorry to hear that your hands are in a bad way. Glad though that the Spec saw this and you have been
given help to hoepfully calm them down. I am sufferring with pains in my joints and especially the thumb
joint so I am aware how it getsd you down. Even a simple task of trying to cut up food is a challenge isn't

Down worry about coming on here for a moan, I do and yes it does help when we know someone is
sufferring and understands all about the ruddy RA,

x
